In 1996, Matt had a business idea to rent out memorable free phone numbers to big companies and profit from the phone calls…but needed support to turn this dream into a reality. After taking part in the Prince’s Trust Enterprise programme, Matt was offered a £1,000 grant and £2,500 loan to get started.
Since then, he has gone from strength to strength, evaluating and procuring businesses that he can add value to and grow. His enthusiasm for retaining skilled staff has built Elite Group into one of the UK’s major enterprises, and more importantly, a company the best people want to work for.
Matt has a proven track record for building national and international companies. Continuing to expand by acquiring and incorporating more organisations, Matt was able to fuel his growth strategy and create a diverse investment portfolio.
From a Lancashire lad with a dream to an entrepreneur and business owner, Matt now has investments across a range of sectors- including tech, property, SaaS and data, as well as minority and majority stakes in various public and private sector businesses.

Outside of work, Matt is a self-proclaimed adrenaline junkie, enjoying the outdoor pursuits that life on the Isle of Man has to offer, including mountain biking, jet skiing and sailing, as well as enjoying his supercar collection on the Island’s famous roads.
Despite all his achievements in the business world, Matt’s ultimate pride and joy is his family. After meeting his wife, Jess, whilst travelling in Europe, they ultimately decided to settle on the island, the home of Matt’s company Elite Group IOM, with their three children. When they’re not enjoying the adventures and walks that the beautiful coastal landscape has to offer, they enjoy going out for dinner as a family to support local restaurants and businesses.
In 2020, Matt was awarded ‘Entrepreneur of the Year’ at the Comms National Awards for his outstanding achievements and demonstration of leadership in the IT sector.
